McQuerry Elementary Student Receives Top Honors at Senate Art Exhibit
Launch the media gallery 1 playerA second grade student at McQuerry Elementary, Collin Wade, placed first in Senate District 21 at the Senate Art Exhibit in Jefferson City, MO. The Senate Art Exhibit was established in 2014, a joint effort between the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education (MOAAE),the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA), and sponsored by Senator David Pearce. The Senate Art Exhibit showcases fine arts programs in all 34 Senate Districts. The exhibit is located on the grounds of the Capitol in the hallway that leads from Senate parking to the Capitol ground floor entrance. Collin Wade and art teacher Mr. Herb Schell will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 31, 2016 at Fine Arts Day in Jefferson City and also at the MAEA Spring Conference in St. Louis on April 8, 2016. Artwork is selected by MOAAE and the Senators to display throughout the year. Artwork will be on display in the Capitol from May until August. This is the second year in a row that a student from McQuerry has been selected for this honor. There are only 34 students selected from the state of Missouri and elementary students compete in the same category as secondary students. This is quite an honor for our school and our community.
