This year at OMS, one of Mr. Lewis's 8th Grade Academic Focus classes conducted a research project. This project was then entered in the 'How Inventions Evolve' contest conducted by Science World (Scholastic). Students conducted intense research on an invention of their choosing, wrote a 400-500 word essay, and created a digital timeline of the history of their invention. The goal was to explain how the invention benefits society and how it has change or improved over time. 

 

Ashlyn Hardesty and Kaylie Bettinger were chosen as one of the top four submissions out of this national contest. There were thousands of entries sent in from around the country, and their submission was judged to be one of the four best. They will receive a boxed Hunger Games trilogy for their efforts. We are so proud of their efforts and their accomplishments!
