Ernie Cockrum Agency/Farmers Insurance presented Sammi Burroughs, McQuerry Elementary Kindergarten Teacher, a check for $2,500 to purchase seven (7) classroom tablets. Mrs. Burrough’s applied for a “Thanks-A-Million Teachers” Grant in May 2014 and with the assistance of the Odessa community, placed first in the region. Sammi will be using the tablets to enhance learning in the areas of reading, writing, math, science and social studies, as well as other interactive activities in the classroom. Whats new for 2014-2015 Changes for Breakfast, Lunch and Smart Snacks in Schools The 2014-2015 school year makes the third year of changes under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Changes for the upcoming school year include additional requirements for breakfast, lunch and the implementation of Smart Snacks in School requiring schools to offer healthier snack food to children at school.
