Sophomore Hannah Scott competed at the state level of the National History Day competition in Columbia on Saturday, April 25th . Her senior individual exhibit, Lucile Bluford: The Conscience of Kansas City and her Leadership in The Call for Change, took first place. The Odessa Middle School Honor Society hosted a very successful Spirit Week from March 2nd through March 6th. Students and staff raised over $750 for local charities. The groups chose two local charities to give their funds, hearts, and energy to as a donation. The Honor Society group hosted two community service volunteer events with local animal rescue Midwest Animal Rescue. Midwest Animal Rescue is an foster based rescue founded by Erin Morse in Holden MO. MARQ saves approximately 400 dogs a year. The students volunteered on March 7th and March 14th at the rescue house. A second grade student at McQuerry Elementary , Trinley Alexander, placed 2nd in District 21 at the Senate Art Exhibit in Jefferson City, MO. The Senate Art Exhibit was e stablished in 2014, a joint effort between the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education (MOAEE), the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA), and sponsored by Senator David Pearce, the Senate Art Exhibit showcases fine arts programs in all 34 Senate Districts.
